He presented the factors that motivate the emergence of the science of biography, pointing to the sources of the Book and the Sunnah, and their role in this field. He spoke on the authority of Ibn Abbas, Jaber bin Abdullah, Anas bin Malik, Urwa bin Al-Zubayr, Aban bin Othman bin Affan, Ikrimah Mawla bin Abbas, Sharhabil bin Saad Al-Madani, Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi, Asim bin Omar bin Qatada, and Muhammad bin Shihab Al-Zuhri.
