الوصف: | 104 With the improvement of the quality of life, cosmetics were no longer considered as luxuries, but as the rapid growth of personal care products. Since cosmetics are an usual beauty maintenance, in addition to the requirement of their high quality and specific functions, cosmetics’ safety and stability are also highly concerned, among which the inhibition of microorganisms has gained most attention. Most of chemical preservatives have been replaced by natural ones or by other sterilization methods owing to the safety concerns. The global popularity of applying facial masks inspires us to think about whether it is possible to apply the method used to sterilize seasoning and oil sachets of instant noodles to sterilize each single pack of mask, instead of adding preservatives as what they did in the past. The study is to investigate the feasibility of using gamma irradiation to sterilize facial masks. 1×105 ~ 1×106 CFU/mL of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger were added to essence in different culture medium, respectively. Then, three different doses of cobalt-60 gamma irradiation 3~10 KGY, 5~15 KGY and 10~30 KGY, were performed to observe the contents of microorganisms in different culture medium. Every week, 100µl essence were taken out from the culture medium of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger, respectively and each was exposed to three different doses of gamma irradiation to evaluate the changes of microorganisms and the effectiveness of sterilization. A positive result was achieved, showing that gamma irradiation is effective to eliminate microorganisms. |
