الوصف: | The use of new biotechniques in the production of veterinary vaccines. Recently developed biotechniques such as genetic recombination and peptide synthesis present new opportunities for the preparation of veterinary vaccines for use in the prevention of viral or bacterial infection and parasite infestation. Be it for the preparation of “ live” or “inactivated” vaccines, or “sub-unit or purified” vaccines, genetic recombination permits the production of vaccinating antigens by biosynthesis, the obtention of such antigens is still hindered by their scarcity, difficulties and cost of their extraction and of their purification and the constraints of biological security involved in their production. By enabling the reproduction of certain determinants carried by the vaccinating antigens, peptide synthesis furnishes another alternative for vaccine preparation. When associated to new delivery systems which can both contribute to an increase in efficacy and a simplification of vaccination schedules, these vaccines of the future will represent further progress in the prevention and eradication of infections veterinary diseases and parasites. |
