الوصف: Jusqu’à la fin des années cinquante, il était courant en Italie que l’on arrête ses études en fin d’école primaire. Le collège et les lycées étaient fréquentés par une minorité d’élèves et étaient assez exigeants. Le passage vers « l’école de tous » a été rapide mais difficile, et s’est accompagné d’un taux important de redoublements et d’abandons. Pour y remédier, durant les trente dernières années, on a beaucoup travaillé à un système national d’évaluation ; d’autre part, l’on a accordé une attention accentuée aux compétences plutôt qu’aux seules connaissances. Ceci, du moins dans les intentions, puisque la pratique, souvent, n’a pas suivi. ; Until the end of the fifties, it was common in Italy to finish one’s education at the end of primary school. Secondary schools were attended by a minority of pupils and were quite demanding. The shift towards "schooling for all" was quick but difficult, and led to high numbers repeating a year and dropping out. To address this, over the past thirty years, much work has put towards a national evaluation system. In addition, the emphasis has been increasingly placed on skills rather than on knowledge alone. Such at any rate are the intentions, since practice, often, has not followed.
