الوصف: The subject of this paper is courtship as a pattern of mainly nonverbal behavior a person exibits in order to win the interest, favor, trust, and love of the person who they want as a partner, by using their attractive looks, body posture, gestures, facial expression, and eye contact. The aim of the exchange of love signals in courtship is to attract and keep a desirable, suitable partner, which is of vital importance for an individual and for the human species. Over the last several decades, anthropologists, psychologists, and ethnologists (Givens, Buss, Moor, Morris, Perper etc.) have meticulously studied the complex process of human courtship. D. Givens (2014) differentiates between five connected phases of courtship: attracting attention - recognition phase - conversation phase - touching phase - making love. Each one of them has its main type of nonverbal communication, its specific goal, and a role in the total course of courtship. Only when a lower phase is successfully completed, can a person move on to the next, a more intimate one. However, if any of the two persons at any stage of courtship clearly refuses to continue 'the courting game ', the process is discontinued.
