| الوصف: | International audience ; The activity pattern of an animal describes variations in its activity over time. Longitudinal data on postures and standing activitywere obtained from neural network image analysis of video recordings of 21 Large White and 22 Meishan lactating sows kept inindividual pens. A clustering method was used to define groups of sows with a similar pattern of time budgets according to posturesor standing activities, i.e., the distribution of daily time spent in different postures or activities. Effects of sow behavior on pigletsurvival and growth were assessed using a survival model and a linear model, respectively. For each time budget, two groups of sowswere identified before farrowing (D-3 to D-1) and after farrowing (D1 to D9), and three at D0. The risk of mortality was 23% higherif the sow spent more time eating and drinking while standing on D-1. This risk was higher (40-55%) if after farrowing the sow spentless time lying with her teats exposed and was less agitated. Daily weight gain of piglets (from D0 to D7) was related to pre-farrowingrestlessness, and (at D0) the number of posture changes useful to stop lactation, with a negative effect (– 35 g/d and – 58 g/d,respectively). However, the same type of posture changes made after farrowing led to a greater daily weight gain (+ 102 g/d). Thisstudy shows that the posture and activity time budgets of sows at different periods of peripartum influence the neonatalperformance of piglets. ; Le patron d’activité décrit les variations d’activité d’un animal au fil du temps.
