الوصف: This study investigates people’s perceptions of scientific evidence of gender bias in science hiring. Handley et al (2015) showed that women were more receptive to research findings reporting gender discrimination against women in hiring in STEM sciences than men. However, this sex difference was not observed in previous studies under the same project, but instead, we observed a correlation between moral commitment to gender equality and research evaluations. One possibility for the absence of sex difference is that we did not use the same measures as did the original article. To rule out this possibility, here, we use the exact same research quality measures as did Handley et al. and run the study on participants with the same cultural background (i.e. US residents). We want to test the hypothesis that people’s moral commitment to gender equality, more than their biological sex, influences how positively they evaluate research on gender bias in hiring. We will compare participants' degree of moral commitment to gender equality, their biological sex, and gender identity as predictors of their ratings of the research summary reporting hiring bias against women.
