Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is one of the most prevalent, potentially fatal genetic disorders. It causes elevated LDL-cholesterol levels that can lead to premature cardiovascular disease if untreated. Early identification and treatment can substantially improve outcomes. As FH begins at birth and progresses throughout life, GPs are well placed to play an active role in the diagnosis and care of all individuals and families with FH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
