| مستخلص: | Ghazala (1995, p.138) defines proverbs as "special, fixed, unchanged phrases which have special, fixed, unchanged meanings". Translation of proverbs is an ongoing debate between translators and linguists, and their argument is mainly focused on the appropriate techniques and strategies that should be used in translation. In this research, the researcher will discover the different strategies used in the translation of proverbs, and will highlight the various factors that are interrelated with proverb translation. The researcher will use the deductive methodology to analyze 30 proverbs translated from Arabic to English. The researcher believes that literal translation is not a suitable strategy for proverb translation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
