Abstract (English): | At the plant pathology laboratory from the Research Institute of Tropical Root and Tuber Crops (INIVIT) from January to March 2006, an assay was carried out to test the biological effectiveness of several fungicides against the main fungi causing root rot in yucca (Manihot esculenta Crantz). Eight fungicides (TBZ, Benomyl, Mancozeb, Zineb, Ridomil, TMTD, Copper oxicloride and Maneb) at 300, 1800 and 3500 ppm in culture media poisoned with Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) added to 90 mm Petri dish. Three replications per variant were carried out, and PDA was used as control. The pathogenous fungi were Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. and Fusarium spp. S. rolfsii showed susceptibility against Zineb, Mancozeb, Ridomil and TMTD, while Fusarium spp. was susceptible to Mancozeb and TMTD. Abstract (Spanish): | En el Laboratorio de Fitopatología del Instituto de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales (INIVIT) durante el período de enero a marzo de 2006, se realizó un ensayo para evaluar la efectividad biológica de diversos fungicidas contra los principales hongos causantes de pudriciones radicales en yuca (Manihot esculenta Crantz). Se evaluaron ocho fungicidas (TBZ, Benomyl, Mancozeb, Zineb, Ridomil, TMTD, Oxicloruro de Cobre y Maneb) a 300, 1800 y 3500 ppm en medio envenenado de Papa Dextrosa Agar (PDA), añadido a placas de Petri de 90 mm de diámetro. Se realizaron tres réplicas por variante y como testigo se empleó el medio PDA. Los hongos patógenos estudiados fueron Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. y Fusarium spp. Los resultados arrojan que S. rolfsii mostró susceptibilidad ante el Zineb, Mancozeb, Ridomil y TMTD, mientras que Fusarium spp. ante el Mancozeb y TMTD.
