This can not be attributed to purist tendencies, as these are completely absent from Polish language policy. It seems that the mathematical terminology developed spontaneously and that the new terms were quickly accepted by the public. It is even possible to find the revival of certain archaisms that would not be possible in another context, but which here effectively make ambiguity impossible. Consequently, they are used by the so-called Polish school (Banach, Steinhaus) and by logicians (Adjukiewicz). This terminology represents a solid foundation of basic concepts that often get transferred into other disciplines, such as philosophy and linguistics. The paper discusses the particular character of Polish mathematical terminology, which differs from that used in other Slavic languages. The author would like to clarify the reason for the non-problematic transfer of these terms into other sub-codes and into everyday use. Mathematical terms are compared with those from technology (which are largely borrowed from other languages) and biology (which are mainly artificially created expressions). The author believes that the higher level of expansion of mathematical concepts (in comparison with the transitional strength of technical and biological terms) can be explained by their domestic, spontaneous nature./KEYWORDS:Polish language, Slavic languages, terminology, technical language, matematics, sub-codes, revival of archaisms, info:eu-repo/classification/udc/811.162.1'373.46:51
