مصطلحات موضوعية: Glutamate-mediated excitotoxicity, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress are events occurring in neurodegenerative processes. This pathogenic “triad” characterizes the condition of epilepsy. In vivo models of epilepsy, such as the kainic acid model, allow the investigation of such epileptogenic mechanisms to assess the efficacy of chemoprevention and therapy strategies. The fat-soluble vitamin E is strongly investigated as adjuvant agent in the prevention and protection of epileptogenesis state, due to its neuroprotective role. Neuroinflammation and lipid peroxidation are major events occurring during brain damage and vitamin E has demonstrated to counter these conditions. This chapter provides an overview of the literature and the evidences supporting the role of vitamin E as a complementary therapy in the clinical management of seizures and epileptogenesis associated with the pathogenic “triad” events
