It follows a history that transcends the figure of Palazzotto by taking as its starting point the numerous positions he held, including Keeper of the Royal Medagliere of the University Museum, and dwelling from time to time on the institutions involved. Thus the hypothesis that the scholar possessed not only a personal sector library but also an ornithological collection is outlined, and the unpublished chronicle of the Municipal Library of Palermo in its first hundred years, in which Palazzotto worked for fifty-six years, as the main and only public institution of its kind in Palermo, as well as a collector of volumes through various national and international channels concerning a variety of disciplines, including the historical-artistic ones. From the same body, the memory of the architectural site is recovered with the definitive and unpublished attribution of some elements to Palermo architects.     Time: This volume reports the first scientific edition of an unpublished manuscript from the third decade of the 19th century compiled by Palermo priest Baldassare Palazzotto (1777-1858), a character completely forgotten during the 20th century and brought back to light on this occasion. The study was the first extensive and in-depth ornithological work that made immediately edited would remain a milestone for the field. The research, Historical Archives of the Municipal Library of Palermo) and on printed sources from the 19th century, social and cultural dimensions in the context of a Palermo of the first half of the 19th century undergoing profound transformation.
