Del resto le aporie svelate da Michel Foucault, mettendo in discussione quello che si era proposto come progetto di una storia globale, avevano dato rilievo alla discontinuità, alle fratture, alle soglie, in sintesi alle trasformazioni che valgono come fondazione e rinnovamento delle fondazioni stesse. , Entro questa concezione della storia, o meglio di una metodologia per la storia che "tenda all'archeologia in quanto descrizione intrinseca del monumento", le opere e i progetti di architettura appaiono come i protagonisti di un'azione drammatica incentrata sull'opposizione tra la permanenza della "struttura" e il fremito del mutamento.
