مصطلحات موضوعية: The aim of this thesis is to trace the use of wedding announcements as a historical source. In the introductory compilation chapter, I will briefly summarize the history of marriage, when wedding announcements appear alongside announcements as a way of disclosing the intention to marry. Other chapters will focus on the organization of weddings in social catechisms, where rules regarding the form and sending of wedding announcements also appear. The main part will then be an analysis of wedding announcements as a source. As in the case of death notices, which have already been dealt with, the analysis will focus on the evolution of the appearance of the notices, the development of their structure and diction, and the 'canonical' structure of the text, where six themes can be observed: who was the notifier, who was the subject of the notice, how far in advance it was issued, and whether it contains any practical information concerning the conduct of the wedding ceremony

Time: especially in the 19th century, and the first half of the 20th century
