Relation: We would like to acknowledge in this ACTA1 mutation update the legacy of Professor John Sparrow, from York University, in the field of skeletal muscle actin diseases. His encyclopaedic knowledge of actin, including what was known of the proposed functional role of each of the amino acid residues in actin, was hugely important in the early years of exploring ACTA1 diseases and the first and last ACTA1 mutation update. We miss his presence greatly in his retirement. He would love that now, between the six human actins, 91.5% of actin amino acid residues have been associated with human disease. We had a wager in 2000 that one day, all actin amino acid residues would be associated with disease. We are getting close.; http://hdl.handle.net/10138/588355; 001350783700001
